We are very proud to have been able to help provide water to schools in Uganda. All the papers are now signed and the project is closed.

From our contact in Uganda “I am glad that we had this project am proud to inform you that we are in the rain season and the tanks are all full. It is my guess that the recipients’ water problem on the face of it is solved as the water is most likely to last them for several months.
I wish to once again to be thankful for this opportunity to serve humanity”

So, what’s next?

We are thrilled to report our water project has been completed and handed over to the schools.

Our Rotary contact in Uganda reports:

“Last Friday 24th July 2009 we successfully handed over the water project to the community at Kibiri. It was quite a colorful ceremony and the excited students at the St. Chalres Lwanga SSS composed a poem which they recited at the handover it is a beautiful poem. I have attached here for your befit. You should have seen the smiles on the faces.

We had both TV and Newspaper coverage. I shall send you a copy of the recording of the function. It was one of the news items that were telecast on Sunday news on our local WBS television. The article in our local Monitor news paper will be published in the education edition most probably next week.

It has been great to have this project with you Mark.

We are waiting for the rain which we may have in a few days shall communicate the great news.“

The walk to fetch water 3kms away ends today.
There is joy and relief to have water so near;
We shall have an everlasting memory of your dear good deeds.

Just a quick update that the containers have arrived.

Joseph reports “The work is progressing well on the project. The 24,000lt tank has a diameter of 3.5mts. The photos show the head teacher and I standing admiring the tanks upon delivery.

Some tanks were delivered to the schools last week and the balance shall be during the week. The whole community was excited to see these huge tanks.

The bases have all been built and we shall install the tanks before the week ends and fixing the gutters too. We hopefully shall do the official hand over and closure next week on Thursday or Friday. “

Great news! After much anticipation we have finally started building our water project in Uganda to harvest rainwater from 3 schools to provide clean drinking water to the community.

The St. Charles Lwanga SSS will be getting 3 tanks of 24,000lts and 2 tanks of 10,000lts. The St. Kizito P/S will get 2 tanks of 10,000lts and St. Maria Assumpta will get 1 tank of 16,000lts.

This is very exciting for us as its our first fund raising project and we’re seeing the results come to life after a year of waiting. You can read this post if you want to learn a bit more about this project too.

This poster, placed on the bottom of a grocery cart is used to carry a message to feed the hungry. This campaign was based out of Austrailia

While they could have simply put a standard sign up they took advantage of the opportunity to add a message

This  drinking and driving campaign uses vinyl adhesive stickers  strategically placed to grab attention. The shirt says “I’ll sober up when I’m behind the wheel”.

Another creative example of clever execution.

I thought this was a really creative use of the newspaper medium and doing the unexpected. Its nice to see different approaches instead of the typical ad with too much going on. Less really is more.
